Randolph County Sheriff’s report, May 11-25: Roanoke man says he was grazed in the back of the head by gunfire

A Roanoke man reported he was grazed in the back of the head by a bullet while in the yard of a residence on County Road 65 in the Broughton community Saturday, May 16. The victim stated he had parked on the side of the road and was walking toward the house when the suspect retrieved a pistol from a vehicle and began firing. The victim reported he believed four shots were fired and that he ran back to his vehicle.
A second victim stated the suspect struck her on the right side of the head with the pistol, causing her ear to bleed. She said when she attempted to run into the house, the suspect fired in her direction. A white Ford truck parked in the yard was also struck by gunfire.
House fire
Rock Stand, Tin Shop, A&M and Wedowee volunteer fire departments responded to a structure fire on Highway 431 Thursday, May 14, in which a house was fully engulfed. A vehicle and side-by-side parked nearby were also damaged. The fire is believed to have originated in the laundry room. According to reports the house had just one occupant who able to safely leave the home without injury.
Lost woman found
A Lineville woman who had been missing in the woods for approximately 12 to 16 hours was located safely new New Hope West Church on County Road 968 May 23. She and several friends had been riding dirt roads when their truck became stuck. The woman became separated from the group while attempting to wave down help. She was evaluated by Southern Ambulance Transport and later taken to a friend’s residence.

Prescription medications were reported missing from a residence.
May 11 – County Road 495, Liberty Grove
A resident reported a white Chevrolet 4×4 truck traveling up and down the road, spinning tires and throwing gravel. The gravel reportedly struck the complainant’s residence and vehicles, causing damage.
May 12 – Lakeview Drive, Wedowee
Unauthorized use of a truck was reported after multiple requests for its return were ignored.
May 15 – County Road 263, Foster’s Crossroads
Unauthorized use of a vehicle was reported.
May 22 – County Road 37, Graham
A Georgia Bulldog outfit, new glasses and a Nike outfit were reported stolen. A suspect was named.
May 22 – County Road 17, near Paran
A property owner reported five of his neighbor’s cows have been in his pasture for more than a month. The complainant stated he has contacted the owner several times and wants the cattle removed.
May 22 – County Road 17, near Wehadkee
An excavator caught fire while working near a burn pit. No injuries were reported.
