Two suspects are still at large after they stole a truck in Wedowee and used it to break into a ATM at the First Bank of Alabama location on Highway 431 in Roanoke.
The thefts took place early Tuesday morning, when the suspects allegedly stole a truck from the parking lot at Norton’s Flooring store in Wedowee and drove it to Roanoke. There they attached a chain to the truck on one end and to the ATM on the other and were able to rip out the contents of the machine, including multiple boxes of cash.
According to a Thursday statement on the Roanoke Police Department’s Facebook page, “After removing the ATM money boxes which contained an undisclosed amount of money, both subjects ran toward Talley Street and got into a dark colored SUV driven by a third subject.”
An investigation of the surrounding neighborhood turned up two of the empty cash boxes from the ATM. Those boxes were found along Stewart and Elizabeth Streets.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. If you have any information regarding this theft you may contact Investigator R. Moore 334-863-3065 or Investigator S. May at 334- 863- 3052.
