Bridging the Gap educational fitness class
Bridging the Gap Community Services will host a Mommy and Me educational fitness class for mothers and kids ages 2-4. Classes will be every Monday and Wednesday, 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at the Bridging the Gap headquarters on Main Street in Roanoke. The sessions will feature interactive workouts, fun games and bonding and play times for mothers and kids. For more information contact Bridging the Gap at 334-436-8100.

Roanoke farmer’s market
Roanoke will have a weekly Saturday farmer’s market from 8 a.m. to noon beginning May 2 at the outdoor event space (where the skating rink is located at Christmas time) on Main Street in downtown Roanoke. Local vendors are invited to sell homegrown produce, homemade baked goods, herbs, fresh eggs, flower arrangements or crafts. Vendors must provide their own tents and tables.
No yard sale items, secondhand merchandise or live animals will be permitted to be sold.

Roanoke youth football and cheerleading signups
Sign-ups for Roanoke youth football and cheerleading will begin June 1 and run through July 29. You may sign up in person at the Recreation Center (M-F, 7-4) or online at www.roanokealabama.org.
This league is for ages 6-12 (August 1 is the cut-off date for age). The registration fee for both is $90. A copy of the participant’s birth certificate is required. For additional information, please call the Roanoke Recreation Center at 334-863-6969.

Southern Union fine arts camp
Registration is now open for Southern Union State Community College’s Fine Arts Camp 2026. Hosted by the SU Fine Arts Department, this two-day immersive workshop will be held on the Wadley Campus July 8 and 9 and will offer students the choice of a concentration in either dance or music. Designed to challenge, inspire, and elevate student talent in the performing arts, the camp promises a dynamic and engaging experience.
Open to students entering the 7th grade through their sophomore year of college, the camp features hands-on instruction from experienced, college-level faculty. Whether participants are just beginning their artistic journey or are seasoned performers, they will benefit from personalized instruction, performance opportunities, and a firsthand look at what it’s like to be part of the Southern Union Fine Arts program. Campers will also have the unique opportunity to stay in campus dormitories, with room and board available on the Wadley Campus for those who wish to enjoy the full residential college experience.

SparkSTEM discovery day at RRCTC
The Randolph Roanoke Career Tech Center will host a Spart STEM discovery day July 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to students entering grades 5-8.
SparkSTEM is a fun, hands-on event where students get to try real STEM activities led by local businesses. Students will rotate through interactive stations and explore how science, technology, engineering, and math are used in the real world.
