Jennifer Robertson made a meaningful connection between cooking and leadership at the May 6 meeting of the Wedowee Woman’s Study Club.
The Woman’s Study Club of Wedowee met Wednesday, May 6, at Wedowee First Baptist Church.
Jennifer Robertson opened the meeting and presented the program related to becoming a leader through club participation and working in the community as a volunteer. Her program entitled “Get Cooking” discussed how cooking and leadership are related: the right mix in both will develop skills.
She presented tips on learning to lead and inspire others. Being a leader means standing up for others, showing courage, and displaying integrity for what needs to be done in the community. Leaders with vision can bring about action. They can become a force for good.
“When we work together for a higher purpose with acts of kindness and support, we make the greatest difference,” she said. Jennifer encouraged each member to “become a force for good.”
Woman’s Study Club is affiliated with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC). With more than 60,000 members, this group works in their own communities to support the arts, preserve natural resources, advance education, promote healthy lifestyles, and encourage civic involvement. The varied clubs are unified in their dedication to actively improve the lives of others.
Jennifer emphasized how our club and its members can make a difference in our community. Jennifer has shown that she lives her message as she will be the incoming president of the GFWC Alabama. Another club member, Pam Johnson, will be the Second Vice President.
The club will not meet during the summer, but the Program Committee is already planning next year’s projects, including raising money for the scholarship which was presented this year to Madison Brewer.
Before the meeting ended with the reading of the Collect, one of the Club members, Caroline Meadows, was honored with a baby shower. Caroline is a legacy member as her grandmother Rebecca Moss was a member in years past. Many lovely and useful gifts were presented to Caroline.
