The Magnolia Garden Club met on Wed. March 11 at 2:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church.
President Brenda Weathers served as hostess for this meeting. She served a delightful St. Patrick’s Day plate of decorated cupcakes, nuts, fruit, and cheese straws to members present. The members then signed a get well card for member Mary McDaniel, who has recently had surgery. A short business session followed, including plans for their annual trip. This year, the group will go to Botanic in Opelika for lunch and a tour of their greenhouses.
Alyce Johnson presented the program for the day on using decorated eggs in floral arrangements at Easter. She demonstrated proper “blowing” of the eggs and preparing them for paint or tissue paper and then showed the group how to use liquid starch to cover the egg shell and add paints or even floral napkins to decorate. She then added the decorated eggs to a spring arrangement, special for Easter.
