Roanoke native and author Anthony Baldwin announces the release of “What the Kudzu Keeps,” a Southern Gothic horror novella rooted in Alabama folklore surrounding the legend of the town of Louina that was once located near Wadley.
The story draws on regional history and local myth to tell the story of a lost town swallowed by kudzu, and something far worse.
This fictional story follows a group of urban explorers who venture into the abandoned town of Ebion (inspired by Louina) to document its decay. What begins as a routine episode quickly unravels as they realize the town is not truly deserted. The deeper they go, the more the legend of Louina begins to feel less like a story and more like a warning.
