IncidentsMarch 30 – County Road 233, Corinth North area
A resident reported unauthorized use of a Kawasaki Mule.
March 31 – Evergreen Crest, near Harris Dam
A yellow and green Aqua Lily Pad was reported stolen.
April 1 – County Road 20, Lime community
On Wednesday morning, RCSO responded to a call of a suspicious person slumped over the wheel of a vehicle. The sleeping driver, identified as Jeffery James Lamb, 33, of LaFayette, had a pistol positioned between his legs and an explosive device in the passenger seat. When awakened, the driver said he had a flat tire.
After the pistol and the explosive device were secured by RCSO, it was determined the device was safe to transport. It was a metal pipe with caps on each end, with one end having a long fuse. Lamb said he was going to use the device to blow up beaver dams. The serial number of the gun had been ground off.
Lamb was charged with altered serial number of a firearm; possession and manufacturing of an explosive device; failure to appear in court (third-degree assault, trespassing, and attempting to elude law enforcement); and failure to comply with a judge’s order (violation of a family protection order).
April 1 – Road 87, Woodland
A 12-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the hand on Wednesday evening. The boy said he was looking at his grandfather’s pistol but did not mean to fire it. He was taken to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.
April 2 – County Road 41, near Concord
The owner of a loader said an individual used his loader without permission and ran the hydraulic fluid out of it, causing damage.
April 2 – Highway 48, near Providence
A property owner said individuals were staying at his property without a lease and without making payments. They were instructed to vacate by April 5.
April 3 – LaDonna Drive, Mt. Pleasant community
A FedEx driver left his vehicle’s rear door open, causing packages to fall out. A resident gathered them and brought them to the sheriff’s department. The man delivered one to a family member, and RCSO took care of the rest. RCSO made contact with the driver and informed him.
April 4 – Road 42, Midway community
A resident reported noticing his fence had been struck by a vehicle and later noticed his red 1988 Chevrolet Suburban had been stolen.
April 4 – County Road 26, Broughton community
A resident reported his dog was killed by his neighbor’s German shepherd. The neighbors said they would have their dog put down because it had previously killed another dog.
April 5 – County Road 97, near Woodland
Residents of a rental home reported they were frying fish outside when the porch caught fire. They were able to extinguish the flames themselves. A&M Volunteer Fire Department responded.
