Christeen V. Watts

(NEWELL) Funeral services for Christeen V. Watts, 89, of Newell will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jeff Horton, Bro. Phillip Waits, and Rev. Steve Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 21.

Mrs. Watts passed away on Saturday, July 19, at her residence.

Survivors include: three daughters, Linda Waits (Phillip) of Newell, and Sandra Kilgore (Tim) and Teresa Horton (Jeff), both of Carrollton, Ga.; one son, Donald Watts of Newell; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Watt’s grandsons and great-grandsons.

A Cleburne County native, Mrs. Watts was born on Sept. 15, 1935, the daughter of Emmett and Gena Ward Brown. She was Baptist by faith and worked as a seamstress for Bremen Bowdon Investments. Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Watts; one son, Michael Watts; and three brothers, Troy, Loyd, and Donald Brown.
