Winifred Head Barton

Private graveside services for Winifred Head Barton, age 97, of Wetumpka, formerly of Roanoke, will be held at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Barton passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, at her residence.

Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Furlong (Dennis) of Wetumpka; two sons, Robert Barton of Madison, AL and John Barton (Sue) of Athens, AL; one sister, Sybil Amason (Jim) of St. Augustine, FL; ten grandchildren, Sarah Barton, Melissa Barton (Kevin), Jacob Barton (Chancey), Levi Barton (Alisha), Jonna Warner (Richard), Will Barton, Terrell Barton (Madeline), Madelyn Furlong, Sydney Furlong, and Emma Furlong; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A Wedowee native, Mrs. Barton was born February 28, 1929, the daughter of Burl Elton and Victoria Lawson Head.  She was a member of Vaughn Park Church of Christ and had retired from employment with the State of Alabama.  Mrs. Barton loved gardening.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Barton, Sr.; her parents; two sisters, Mary Bailey and Lurline Teague, and a daughter-in-law, Beverly Barton.

In lieu of sending flowers, it was Mrs. Barton’s request that those family members and friends visit someone in the nursing home or a shut-in.
