James Edwin Barnes, Sr.
Mr. James Edwin Barnes, Sr., age 90, of Woodland passed away May 16, 2026.
His funeral will be held at the graveside Wednesday, May 20, at 11:30 a.m. at Old Camp Church Cemetery. The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Wednesday morning 10–11 a.m.
Mr. Barnes was born May 10, 1936, in Carroll County to the late Horace Edwin Barnes and Omie Sailors Barnes. He was a Methodist by faith.
He drove a truck for M & W Trucking of Bowdon prior to his retirement. He always strove to provide for his family. He had an affinity for old cars and enjoyed traveling. Trips with his family were always welcome, and he loved to go camping. He adored his wife of 65 years, Janice, who preceded him in death. He also dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: three children: James Edwin “Eddie” Barnes, Jr. (Florrie) of Franklin, Janet Brazeal (John) of Franklin, and Allen Barnes of Cumming; three grandchildren: Jason Brazeal, Josh Brazeal, and Casey Barnes; three great-grandchildren: Jay, Zeke, and Pike Barnes; a special friend, Patricia Phillips of Franklin; and a number of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Edwin Barnes and Omie Sailors Barnes; his wife, Janice Barnes; and a sister, Hazel Barnes.
