After 29 years with the county highway department, County Engineer Burrell Jones is retiring. According to County Administrator Lisa Herren, Jones handed in his resignation/retirement letter on Monday, and it is effective immediately. Herren went on to say he is retiring from the County but plans to continue to work some.
The County Commission posted the job opening for Jones’s replacement on its Facebook page Monday afternoon.
“Starting salary will be between $88,836.80 and $120,000 annually, based on experience,” the posting read. “Qualified applicants shall be a professional engineer in the state of Alabama and in good standing and, not less than three years’ experience in the maintenance and construction of highway and bridges.”
