Wedowee Church of Christ re-zoned, sale in the works

At last week’s meeting of Wedowee Town Council, the council formally approved the rezoning

of property on West Broad Street. The zoning and planning commission had approved the request, and there was no opposition at a public hearing.

The request for rezoning came from Wedowee Church of Christ. The property was listed as R-1 (single family residential) and is now B-2 (general business). With declining membership at the church, the property and buildings will be sold. More details on the prospective buyer and the plans for the property will be released at a later date.
