Randolph and Chambers County Sheriff report

BETHEL EAST – A fire on the evening of Feb. 8 destroyed a home on County Road 447 in the Bethel East community.
According to the report from Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, resident Joanna Faith Huddleston said she believes the fire started in the living room from an electric heater.
The residence was fully engulfed when responders arrived. Several volunteer fire departments responded.
Stolen vehicle found
GRAHAM – When responders went to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Feb. 12, it was discovered that one of the vehicles had been reported stolen from Auburn.
According to the report from Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 48 and County Road 87 and involved a red 2011 Chevrolet Aveo, driven by Jessica Elaine Jordan, 31, of 903 Cofield Dr., Lineville.
Jordan was charged with first-degree receiving stolen property and several outstanding warrants including failure to appear in court (two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, drug offender ephedrine, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, third-degree assault and promoting prison contraband).
Dog bite
MOUNT PLEASANT – A 71-year-old woman and her small dog were attacked by a pitbull on Feb. 8 on Sunset Drive in the Mount Pleasant community.
According to the reported from Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was walking her dog when the gray pitbull with a blue collar started toward them. She hurried toward her home and got halfway down the driveway when it attacked her, biting her on the thigh and thumb. It grabbed her dog by the leg, but she was able to get her dog’s leg out of its mouth. That’s when the dog turned and went back down the road.
Now according to social media, the victim’s dog is facing surgery and the victim is taking a series of rabies shots. The pitbull’s owner has not been identified.

Thefts
A resident of Roanoke reported on Feb. 8 that she had attempted to purchase a washer and dryer from Facebook Marketplace. The seller was using the name “Eleanor Rigby.” The victim transferred money via PayPal and was instructed to pick up the appliances at an address on West Broad Street in Wedowee. However, the residents there are not selling anything and said multiple people had been given their address in this scam.
A propane company reported on Feb. 11 that propane was delivered to a residence on County Road 329 in the Swagg area. The resident said he would pay with a debit card, but repeated attempts by the propane company to charge the purchase to this card have failed.
A pistol in its case and cash were reported stolen on Feb. 12 from a residence on County Road 900 in the Mt. Zion community.
Two satellite dishes and an animal trap were reported stolen on Feb. 11 from a residence on Hillcrest Court in Wedowee.
A white 2007 Dodge Durango was reported stolen on Feb. 11 from a residence on County Road 803 near Auslin’s Chapel.
A deer camera was reported stolen from County Road 95 in the Liberty Grove area on Feb. 7.
Other incidents
A resident of Highway 22 reported that someone known to her vandalized her black 2011 Ford Taurus on Feb. 12 by cutting the tires and beating on it.
A resident of County Road 112 in the Prospect Church area reported that someone ran over his mailbox on Feb. 7.
A resident of County Road 525 in Newell reported on Feb. 7 that a truck intentionally swerved and struck her dog.
A metal gate to some property on County Road 4801 in the Providence area was reported damaged on Feb. 10.
Criminal littering was reported on Feb. 10 on County Road 401 near Micaville.
