Billy Ray Taft
(ROANOKE) The funeral for Billy Ray Taft, 76, of Roanoke will be Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, at 3 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Pat Heuer officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 1 to 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Mr. Taft passed away Wednesday, Aug. 18, at his residence.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Taft was born Nov. 13, 1944, the son of Ray and Dorothy Folds Taft. He worked in the maintenance department at Candlewick. Mr. Taft was a member of High Pine Baptist Church and Roanoke Fire Department for 50 years, where he served as assistant chief since 2016. He was a former member of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Reserve.
Survivors include his daughters, Vicky D. Collier (David) of Lanett and Nicki Taylor of Wadley; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Brenda Barnett (Howard) of Roanoke; and companion, Ann Clark. Mr. Taft was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Angela Taft; sister, Judy House; and brother, Waymon Taft.
Pallbearers will be the members of Roanoke Fire Department.
