(WEDOWEE) The funeral for JoAnn Key, 75, of Wedowee was Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 4 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Jason Key officiating. Burial followed at Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Key passed away Friday, June 25, at Lineville Health & Rehabilitation.

A longtime Randolph County resident, Mrs. Key was born in Calhoun County on March 14, 1946, the daughter of Joe Mason Carney and Myrtis Joe McLeroy Ford. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Eldridge Key of Wedowee; three sons, Eldridge “Doc” Key Jr. (Rebecca), Jason Key (Julie) and Mason Key (Patricia), all of Wedowee; nine grandchildren, Jacob, Jeremiah, Jonie, Ryan, Stephen, Tracy, Stephanie, Susian and Patrick; seven great-grandchildren; and half-brother, Jerry Ford. Mrs. Key was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Myrtis Ann Key; and grandson, Brandon Key.

Pallbearers were Patrick Mize, Stephen Haynes, Jamieson Walker, Michael Holloway, Hunter Holloway and Tommy Holloway.
