John T. ‘T-Boy’ Bledsoe
(HEFLIN) John T. ‘T-Boy’ Bledsoe died on his 94th birthday, Oct. 14, 2020.
Viewing will be Friday, Oct. 23, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Clark Memorial Funeral Service.
A graveside service with military honors will be Saturday, Oct. 24, at noon at Flint Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Heflin.
Mr. Bledsoe was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Chambers County to the late Sydney and Ella Silmon Bledsoe. He was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church. John was united in marriage to the late Mattie M. Bledsoe. John was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was a mechanic and the first black man in this area to own his own pulpwood business in Chambers and Randolph counties, employing many relatives and friends.
John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mae Bell Bledsoe of Heflin; son, John Clifford “Fat Sam” Bledsoe (Gloria) of Wedowee; daughters, Shari Turner (Fred) and Johnnie Mae Boyd (Lynwood), both of LaFayette; sister, Vernia McCants of Chicago; 15 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Major, Eddie and Albert Bledsoe; six sisters, Ella Pearl Finley, Minnie Olar Kyles, Stella Pickard, Mary Ann Bledsoe, Carrie Evans and Jessie Eva Simpson; and three sons, Willie C. Bledsoe, Calvin Bledsoe and John Henry Bledsoe.
