Adele H. New

(LINEVILLE) Adele H. New, 97, of Lineville, born to the late Adolphus and Danver Hanson on April 10, 1921, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at Lineville Health & Rehab.

Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 31, from 5:30 until 7 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.

Graveside services for Mrs. New will be in Wedowee City Cemetery on Friday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Chris Duncan of Opelika officiating.

She worked for many years as a nursing assistant at Wedowee Hospital and as a private caregiver in her later years.

She is survived by her three sons, Dr. Gerald New (Lynda) of Decatur, Bill L. New (Lura) of Opelika, and Ricky New (Becky) of Lineville; one brother, Gene Hanson of Dothan; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy New; one son, Max New; and three brothers.

Pallbearers will be Chris New, Dave New, Brian Duncan, Nicholas New, Anthony “Tank” New, Richard Bickerstaff, Anthony Kinder and Phil New.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lineville Nursing Home & Rehab of Lineville.
