Ruby Rudene Benefield

(HEFLIN) Ruby Rudene Benefield of Heflin died Friday, Aug. 18, 2017. She was 74.

The funeral will be Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. EDT. Bro. Donald Leggett and Bro. Ron Carroll will officiate. Interment will follow at New Hopewell Cemetery in Heflin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 p.m.

Mrs. Benefield was born Sept. 5, 1942, to the late Dwight and Thelma Sullivan. Her children will remember her as a loving and stubborn mother and was a welcoming and loving mother-in-law.

She is survived by her children, Dwayne Edwards (Tina) and Kim Whaley (Danny), all of Heflin, and Mark Edwards (Stephanie) of Woodland, Alabama; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Zach Doug Benefield; and her brother, Bobby Sullivan.

Hayden Edwards, Brock Edwards, Brandon Edwards, Blake Whaley, Matt Whaley and Eddie Sullivan will serve as pallbearers.
