James Daniel Watson

(ROANOKE) Services for James Daniel Watson, 81, of Roanoke, will be Sunday, June 4, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Gerald Romine and Bro. Roger Hammett officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Mr. Watson died Thursday, June 1, 2017, at his home.

Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Olson of Opelika; one stepdaughter, Regina Gosdin of Roanoke; one stepson, Anthony Gosdin of Roanoke; one sister, Catherine Anglin of Rock Mills; one brother, Arthur Watson of Roanoke; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Danny Anglin, Blaine Gosdin, Tristian Gosdin, Kaleb Bennett, Damien Bennett, and Jimmy Lynn Watson.

A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Watson was born Nov. 18, 1935, son of Olif Daniel and Mattie Sue Edmondson Watson. He had been self-employed as a painter. Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Watson; his parents; two daughters, Rechell Gosdin and Judy Ward; and two brothers, John Wayne Watson and Wesley Watson.
