Woods fire burns 20 acres here
LEVEL ROAD–Firefighters from Corinth and Dickert volunteer fire departments, along with the state Forestry Commission, responded to a fire Monday night in the Level Road community. According to Randolph County E-911, the blaze was reported at approximately 10:06 p.m. on County Road 26. Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and Alabama Power Company were also dispatched to the location. Randolph County EMA director Donnie Knight said the fire was between Friendship Baptist Church and the old Buck Eiland’s store (on the north side of CR 26). He said the fire reportedly burned more than 20 acres but no structures were involved. When Forestry arrived, the much-needed rain also began.
