Stephen Weldon Neal

(THEODORE) After a valiant battle with cancer, Stephen Weldon Neal died on Sept. 7, 2016, in Theodore at the age of 70.

Steve was born Feb. 7, 1946, in Providence, R.I., to father Joseph Neal and mother Anne Neal. He grew up in Wakefield, R.I., and graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1974. He moved to Alabama in 1976 and became a Southerner by choice. After owning several businesses over the years, he ended up an instructor at Bishop State College in Chatom. Steve enjoyed drag racing and fast Ford muscle cars, especially his beautiful 1967 Ford Fairlane 500.

Steve is survived by his wife of 29 blessed years, Becky Everett-Neal, formerly of Roanoke; his son, Matthew Neal; and his grandson, Layne Neal. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenneth Neal.

Steve requested to be cremated. His ashes will be interred at a family plot in Roanoke.
