(WINSTON, Ga.) Joan Jeanette Price Layton, 81, of Winston, Ga., (Fairplay

Community) died Saturday, June 11, 2016.

The funeral will be Monday, June 13, at 2 p.m. EDT at Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Eric Evans officiating and Emily Huddleston also speaking. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Layton was born Jan. 6, 1935, in Atlanta, the daughter of the late Raymond Earl Price and the late Mary Alma Daniell Price. She was a 1953 graduate of Douglas County High School and later worked for Douglas County Board of Education as a para-professional until her retirement in 1994. She loved her family, church family and her community. She will be deeply missed by everyone she knew and loved.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, John L. Layton of Winston; daughters and son-in-law, Jana Lynn Layton and Lisa Renee and Gene Willis, all of Winston; two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; sister, Joyce Ann Friddell of Wedowee; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Ellen Hendrix.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Willis, Lewis Huddleston, Zane George, Jamie George, Tommy Friddell and Richard Hendrix.
