Bike Hike fundraising tops $110,000
This year’s Randolph County Bike Hike broke records when it brought in $110,153.
Warm-Up
The Warm-Up held on May 13 at WELR raised $52,062.
Top business money raiser was Wedowee Hospital, whose employees walking from Wedowee Hospital to WELR raised $2,055.
The top individual fund-raisers were Richard Fetner, Billy Lane, April Anthony, Pam Taylor and Samantha Baggett.
Fetner raised the most money for all events with $8,425.
Bike Hike Day
The total raised on Bike Hike Saturday was $18,064.
There were 196 registered bikers and walkers. The oldest participant was Hollis Crockett. The youngest female participant was Annabeth Foster, 30 days old. The youngest male participant was Avery Almond, 6 weeks old.
The most money raised on Bike Hike Day was $4,020 by Jenny Rollins in memory of her mom, Becky Rollins.
Amanda Nimon was the winner of a $100 bill drawing.
Hollis Crockett was the winner of a quilt drawing.
Most money raised in the youth category went to: (1) Silas Pike – $267; (2) Leigha Foster – $155; and (3) Ariah Almond – $150.
Most money raised in the student category went to: (1) Kaylor Burks – $465; (2) Haley Richardson and Laci Richardson (tie) – $234 each; and (3) Ariel Almond – $225.
The top 10 money-raisers at all events were: (1) Richard Fetner – $8,425; (2) Jenny Rollins/In Memory of Becky Rollins – $4,020; (3) John Owens – $2,271; (4) Duon Noles -$1,784; (5) Samantha Fetner Baggett – $1,700; (6) Letha Sheppard – $1,500 In Memory of Rusty Sheppard; (7) Billy Lane – $1,435; (8) April Anthony – $867; (9) Pam Taylor – $670; and (10) Ashleigh Halsey – $645.
John Owens will receive the Rusty Sheppard Camp ASCCA scholarship.
Daycare centers
Daycare centers raised a total of $5,914. Tree House Early Learning Center raised the most among the daycares with $2,507 and Kruze McCarley was the student raising the most money.
Roanoke First United Methodist Church Pre-school raised $721 with Kate Foster raising the most money. First United Methodist Church Daycare raised $1,291 with Collins Cofield raising the most there. In total FUMC children raised $2,012.
Students at Peachtree Early Learning Center raised $700. Emory Killian raised the most money there.
Wee Kids raised $695 with the most money raised by Ryder Rochester.
Roanoke schools
Roanoke City Schools raised $23,406.82 for Bike Hike.
Students at Knight-Enloe Elementary School raised $8,050. Shannan Platzek’s third-grade class was the top class with $709.97 plus $100 for the Warm-Up for $809.97.
Handley Middle School raised $12,015.42. The top money-raiser was the class of Stacy Morton. This was also the top money-raising class across the board.
Handley High School raised $3,341.40. OJ Moody Day brought in $2,589.60, Mrs. Sears’ class raised $ 427, and the cheerleaders raised $325.
County schools
Randolph County Schools raised $4,776.85. Rock Mills School raised $866. Beth Denney’s sixth-grade class was the top money raiser there.
RCHS raised $361 on Warm Up Day.
Wadley High School raised $1,232.63. The top class was Hannah Cofield’s third grade.
Wedowee Elementary and Middle School raised $2,117.22. Shannon Foster’s third-grade was the top money-raising class.
Woodland High School raised $179.
Other things bringing in money to support Randolph County Learning Center were a bake sale – $2,669; yard sale – $1,041; T-shirt sales – $2,223; cookout – $681; mullet toss – $225; auction – $5,149; and silent auction – $1,360.
