Mary Lou Browning

(WEDOWEE) Funeral services for Mary Lou Browning, 88, of Wedowee will be Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Green’s Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. Tommy Burke and Matt Browning officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Browning passed away Friday, Dec. 18, at Cleburne County Nursing Home.

A Wedowee native, Mrs. Browning was born Jan. 14, 1927, the daughter of Guy Felton Benefield Sr. and Mattie Bell Owens Benefield. She was a member of Green’s Chapel United Methodist Church and worked at many occupations, most recently as the director of Wedowee Senior Center.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Allen Quinn of Oxford; four sons and their wives, Wayne Browning and Jerry and Jan Browning, all of Wedowee, Mike and Jenny Browning of Carrollton, Ga., and Ed and Pat Browning of Woodland; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Irene McManus of Wedowee, Frances Kirby of Roanoke, and Sara Kirby and Idell Wilder, both of Anniston. Mrs. Browning was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lovette H. Browning; one daughter, Janice McKee; one grandson, Craig Lee Atkinson; and two brothers, Morgan and Guy Felton Jr.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Browning’s grandsons.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday. Mrs. Browning will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Sunday. Online condolences may be expressed at www.benefieldfhwedowee.com.
