Animal shelter book sale tops $5,130 with $2,500 Modern Woodmen contribution
The Randolph County Animal Shelter thanks Modern Woodmen of America for their participation in the successful fundraiser for the shelter, matching the sale of books with $2,500 and increasing the total amount raised to $5,131.47, according to Evelyn Smith, book sale chairwoman. The book sales were held Oct. 10 and 17.
“We also would like to thank all our volunteers and especially Chris Mitchum for always making the warehouse available to the shelter for our book sale. See you in April,” she said of the next shelter book sale.
A Modern Woodmen news release said Modern Woodmen of America members in Wedowee recently helped raise the money for the Randolph County Animal Shelter. The Modern Woodmen’s home office matched funds through the organization’s Matching Fund Program. The money will be used for facilities and equipment repair.
The Matching Fund Program offers Modern Woodmen members nationwide the chance to show their support for a community cause, organization or individual in need by holding fundraisers. Modern Woodmen matches money raised up to $2,500. These fundraising projects contribute $10.8 million to community needs nationwide each year.
“The community truly came together to support a local need,” said Jeff Nolen, local Modern Woodmen chapter activities coordinator. “That support is what it’s all about,” he added.
