Charles T. Otwell
(BREMEN, Ga.) Charles T. Otwell, 73, of Bremen died Friday, Oct. 30, 2015.
A fellowship service will be Thursday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. EST at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel, Carrollton, Ga. In keeping with the family’s wishes, the body has been cremated.
Mr. Otwell was born in Fulton County, in Atlanta, on May 12, 1942, and was raised in Bremen. He was the son of Raymond Cyril and Flora McDonald Otwell of Bremen. Mr. Otwell was an engineer for the IBM Corp for nine years and started a computer-consulting firm, which he ran for 35 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Emory University in 1963 and later a master’s degree in computer science from the University of West Georgia in 2004. Mr. Otwell served with the U.S. Air Force and Reserves from 1964 until 1969 during the Vietnam era. He was a training NCO at Dobbins AFB in Marietta, Ga.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Amy Otwell Shadix and Mike of Douglasville, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew Thomas Otwell and Cis of Woodstock, Ga.; step-daughters, Cassandra Parnell of Munford and Darlene Bradshaw of Duluth, Ga.; grandson, Cody Barnett (wife, Lori Beth); great-granddaughter, Maisy Jayne Barnett; and six step-grandchildren, Alexandra Klauder, Samantha Klauder, Sean Klauder, Andrew Sutton, Michaela Shadix and Madison Shadix. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, LeJeune Wingo Otwell; stepmother, Pearl Parrish Otwell; and brother, Raymond Cyril “Ray” Otwell Jr.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. EST. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Haralson County Ministries or Bremen First United Methodist Church Minister’s Discretionary Fund.
