Calvin Coolidge Bailey

(WEDOWEE) Funeral services for Calvin Coolidge Bailey, 90, of Wedowee will be Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Bro. Corky Addison officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Bailey passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at his residence.

A Randolph County native, Mr. Bailey was born Nov. 28, 1924, the son of Robert and Dettie Pool Bailey. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 55 years, served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as part of the European Campaign, and worked as a carpenter.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Larry Bradley and Debra and Dennis Deason, all of Wedowee; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Terri Bailey of Wedowee; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Clara Yates of Auburn and Wildred Owen of Montgomery. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 67 years, Marie Cummings Bailey; two sons, John Robert and Donald Bailey; and three brothers, C.B. Bailey, Herbert Bailey and Clarence Bailey.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Bailey’s grandsons.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday. The family is accepting flowers or, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.benefieldfhwedowee.com.
