Ethel Holloway Raye

(WINTER HAVEN, Fla.) Ethel Holloway Raye, formally of Huguley, died Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in Winter Haven, Fla.

The funeral was Sunday, May 17, at 3 p.m. EDT at Lanett Congregational Christian Church.

Mrs. Raye was born on Feb. 24, 1921, in Wedowee. She retired from Cluett Peabody in Atlanta in 1983 and returned to Huguley. She was an active member of Lanett Congregational Christian Church until she moved to Winter Haven in 2002. Mrs. Raye enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Most of all, she loved her family and friends upon whom she bestowed a legacy more valuable than any material possessions.

Mrs. Raye is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Angelyn and Morgan Williams of Winter Haven; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Shirley Raye of Austin, Texas; one sister, Christine Holladay of Valley; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mrytlee Clack Holloway; husband Jesse “Buster” Raye; and infant son, Jerry.
