Sarah Helen Holmes

(WEDOWEE) Funeral services for Sarah Helen Holmes, 81, of Wedowee will be Sunday, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dana Chandler, Bro. Tony Whiddon and Bro. Don Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Wedowee City Cemetery.

Miss Holmes died Saturday, Feb. 14, at her residence.

A Randolph County native, Miss Holmes was born Sept. 13, 1933, the daughter of Joseph Onward and Irma Estelle Bailey Holmes. She was a member of West Broad Street Church of Christ and worked as a teller and the Bank of Wedowee.

Survivors include: two sisters, Ruth Margaret Kirby (husband, John) of Wedowee and Wilda Ann Harris (husband, George); sister-in-law, Yvonne Holmes of Wedowee; six nieces; five nephews; 18 great-nieces and nephews; ten great-great-nieces and nephews; and special loving caregivers, Beverly Shelnutt, Kelly Bass, Susan Traylor and Amanda Hill. Miss Holmes was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Eleanor Luree Benefield; and one brother, Joseph Harold Holmes.

Pallbearers will be Miss Holmes’ nephews and great-nephews.
