Vashire ‘Val’ Drake

(DAYTON, Ohio) Vashire “Val” Drake, 66, of Dayton, Ohio, died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton.

The funeral was at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel N. Winston Jr. officiating. Interment was in West Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Drake was the daughter of the late Eddie and Mary Heard, born on Oct. 10, 1947, in Roanoke. Vashire attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Drake; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Terra; brothers, Eddie, Tony, Oliver and Dyetian; sisters, Joann and Altermease; three grandsons and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by brothers: Luke, Stanley, Ronnie and Terry.
