Wendell Corbin Stone

(CARROLLTON, Ga.) Wendell Corbin Stone, 59, of Carrollton, Ga., died Monday, June 2, 2014.

A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Stone will be Friday, June 6, at 1 p.m. EDT in the Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel.

A Randolph County native, Wendell graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in English, proceeded to Georgia State University with an M.A. in communications, graduated from Valdosta State University with an MLIS and obtained his Ph.D. in theatre from Louisiana State University. He was employed in social work for many years before obtaining his graduate degrees. He taught college in the Department of Mass Communications.

He is survived by his brother, Curtis Stone (wife Linda); nephews, Greg Stone (wife Shannon) and Milt Nichols (wife Joy); nieces, Laurie Long (husband Pat), Jody Reid (husband Rob) and Julie Wylie (husband Doug); grandnieces and grandnephews, Brenna, Danielle, Bailey, Savana, Marissa, Ella, Liam, Finn, Gannon, McKenna, Cody, Norma, Abby, Samantha and Walt; and his lifelong friend, Sharon Whitaker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Loneda Waldrep Stone; and his two sisters, Norma Nichols and Judy Harmon.
