Wilbur Dale Hardman

(LaGRANGE, Ga.) Wilbur Dale Harman, 88, of LaGrange, Ga., died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Piedmont-Henry Hospice in Stockbridge, Ga.

The funeral will be Saturday, May 3, at 1 p.m. EDT at Benefield Funeral Home in Wedowee. Graveside services will be at Green’s Chapel Methodist Church in Wedowee.

Mr. Hardman is survived by his dear wife of 62 years, Edyth Ware Hardman of LaGrange; two daughters, Lucy Cochran (husband, David) of West Point, Ga., and Linda Williams of Jonesboro, Ga. Also surviving are four grandchildren, April Cloutier (Jon) of Cornelia, Ga., Jennifer Garten (Stephen) of Fayetteville, Ga., Cassie Eastmead (Josh) of LaGrange and Fred Gentner of West Point. Mr. Harman is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Lucy Ann Eastmead, Andrew Eastmead and J.R. Garten, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hardman was born Aug. 16, 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Frank Hardman and Mabel Cain. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having reached the rank of corporal and having been awarded the Purple Heart for distinguished service in battle. Mr. Hardman worked all his life and retired from Georgia Highway Express of Atlanta.

Mr. Hardman was a kind and gentle soul, who loved children, animals and laughter. Most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
