Willis O. Gortney
(ASHLAND) Graveside services for Willis O. Gortney, 64, of Ashland will be Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Ararat Cemetery with the Rev. Richard East officiating.
Mr. Gortney died Saturday, Jan. 18, at Russell Medical Center in Alexander City.
A native and lifelong resident of Clay County, he worked as a skidder operator in the logging industry.
Mr. Gortney is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Gay Heath of Alexander City; two sisters, Jean Gautney of Ashland and Sherry Cotney of Wadley; three brothers, Sonny Gortney of Oxford, Bobby Gautney of Montgomery and Charles Gortney of Bluff Springs; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; mother-in-law, Essie Watts; in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Carwile Gortney and Marjorie Obera McCain Gortney; his wife, Dale Gortney; and infant brother, Paul Lamar Gautney.
The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville on Monday, Jan. 20, from 5:30-8 p.m.
