Nellie Davis

(LaFAYETTE) Nellie Davis, 87, of LaFayette died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at her residence.

The funeral was Friday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark Raughton and Floyd Aikens officiating. Burial followed at Sims Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis was born Sept. 22, 1926, in Fayette County, the daughter of the late Fletcher and Margie Howton. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband, Frank S. Davis Sr. of LaFayette; her son and daughter-in-law, Frank Jr. and Ruth Davis of LaFayette; her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and James McGill of LaFayette and Jean and Ellis Estes of Wadley; her sisters, Mary Hollingsworth of Eldridge and Janet Rolfe of Ripley, Miss.; her brothers, James Howton and Daniel Howton, both of Berry, and Phil Howton of Tuscaloosa; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Max Howton, Bobby Howton, Thomas Howton and Mogene Howton; and her daughter, Martha Davis.
