Kate Simpson Grant

(LaGRANGE, Ga.) Katie Simpson Grant, 83, of LaGrange, Ga., died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Hospice LaGrange.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. EST Monday, Dec. 17, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, LaGrange Chapel, with the Rev. Anthony Hovey officiating. Burial will follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Grant was born Nov. 26, 1929, in Newell, Ala., daughter of the late Willie and Katie Cofield Simpson. She retired from the City of Hapeville, where she worked as a school crossing guard for many years. She was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Vickie and Dale Lovvorn and Pansey and Marty Bailey, all of Woodland, Ala., and Charles and Elaine Tucker of Wedowee; stepsons, John and Lee Ann Grant of Atlanta and Jimmy and Susan Grant of Jonesboro, Ga.; sisters, Katie Cook of Wedowee and Jeanelle Adair of Villa Rica, Ga.; a brother, Jim Simpson of LaGrange; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grant was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie M. Grant.
