Other McDaniel

(LaGRANGE, Ga.) Rev. Other McDaniel, 91, of LaGrange, Ga., fondly known by many as the “Old Tomato and Watermelon Man,” died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. EST, Wednesday, Nov. 28, in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, Ga. The Rev. Jody Mitchell will officiate and interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

Mr. McDaniel was born June 12, 1921, in Randolph County, Ala., son of the late Robert and Nancy Hester McDaniel. A resident of LaGrange for more than 60 years, he was a retired Holiness minister and operated a produce stand on Whitesville Street in LaGrange for many years.

Survivors include his daughter and son in-law, Elaine and Jimmy Farmer of Hogansville; granddaughters, Lisa Moman Slaughenhaupt of Franklin, Ga., and Tracey Moman Townsend of Hogansville; eight great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Lucille McDaniel.
