Charles E. Battle

(WADLEY) Charles E. Battle, 64, of Wadley died Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at his residence.

The funeral will be at First Baptist Church, Wadley, on Monday, June 27, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. W.H. Trammell officiating. The remains will lie in state at the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery, Wadley.

Mr. Battle was born July 6, 1946, in Ashland to the late Loadies and Lucy Battle. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church. Mr. Battle was employed with Southern Union State Community College as transportation supervisor. He has been with the college for 47 years.

Mr. Battle is survived by his wife of 38 years, Margaret Reese Battle of Wadley; three daughters and their husbands, Yolanda and Ernest Jones of Roanoke, Miranda and Staff Sgt. Gary Poole of Virginia Beach, Va., and Wendy Battle of Troy; one brother, Larry Battle of Baltimore, Md.; five sisters, Glenda Burney of Lineville, Nida Anderson of Wadley, Yvonne Long of Capital-Heights, Md., Mae Van of Redbank, N.J., and Christine Moon of Harrisburg, Pa.; three grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
