Conelia Qunnion Moore
(CONYERS, Ga.) Conelia Qunnion Moore of Conyers, Ga., died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Rockdale Rehab Center.
He was born Dec. 11, 1932, in Randolph County, Ala., to Major Monroe and Ethel Daniel Moore. Mr. Moore was a communications sergeant in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War, serving in the 11th Airborne Unit. He was a member of American Legion Post 77 and VFW Post 2590, both in Conyers. After leaving the army, Mr. Moore worked as an inspector with General Motors, eventually leaving and working in the family business, Mitchell Used Auto Parts Inc. He worked in the family business for many years until his declining health would not allow him to continue. His hobbies were flying, farming and working on cars.
Mr. Moore is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Larry Foster of Conyers; a daughter-in-law, Becky Moore of Stockbridge, Ga.; three grandchildren; a brother, Oliver Mitchell of Covington, Ga.; and sisters, Wilma Jean Pike of Molden-on-the Hudson, N.Y., and Jann Greene of Lilburn, Ga. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Alma Estelle Reed Moore; son Danny Moore; parents; and stepfather, Alvin A. Mitchell.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. EDT Wednesday, May 25, at First Baptist Church of Lithonia, Ga., with the Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. Mr. Moore will lie in state at the church before the service from 12:30 until service time. Interment will be at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens.
