Postal campaign collects 9,200 pounds of food here

Even though rain that was forecast held off, showers of blessings were received in Roanoke and Woodland from postal patrons. A total of 9,200 pounds of food was collected Saturday, May 14, by letter carriers from Roanoke and Woodland during their annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Campaign.

The food was turned over to local food banks, which in turn had it transported to the recent storm stricken areas of Alabama. The letter carriers thank everyone who donated and made the day a huge success in making a difference for someone in need.

Participants not pictured are postal service employees Carolyn Goode, Vicki Mitchell and Keith Mitchum and volunteers Rhonda Halsey and Kenneth Goode.

Displaying some of the food items they collected are Woodland Post Office employees Angie Wysner (front), Sabrina Lovvorn, Wayne Huddleston and Teresa Smith. Not pictured are Julia Herren, Regina Loveless, Brook Lovvorn and Debbie Smith.
