Travis Moon
(ROANOKE) Funeral services for Travis Moon, 69, of Roanoke were Sunday, May 1, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wayde Washburn officiating and eulogy by Eric Seeman. Burial followed at Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church Cemetery.
Mr. Moon died Friday, April 29, at his home.
A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Moon was born Aug. 10, 1941, at Cullman, son of James Martin and Hattie Lou Brown Moon. He was a founding member of Sandy Creek UCC at LaFayette and had served as a deacon and treasurer with his church. He was an officer of the Men’s Fellowship of the East Alabama West Georgia Association of Congregational Christian Churches.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Kirby Moon of Roanoke; two daughters, Melisa Seeman (husband Eric) of Huntsville and Carrole Moon of Vancouver, Canada; three grandchildren; three sisters, Curtis Noles of Wedowee, Mary Williams of Uvalda, Ga., and Shirley Youngblood of Troy; a brother, Malcolm Moon of Troy; a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Milton, Willie, Hugh and Ray Moon; and a sister, Sara Kitchens.
Pallbearers will be Pete Mitchell, Wallace Murphree, Ricky Daniel, Bill Sharp, Jimmy Pruett and John Youngblood. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Bassett and fellow employees of Transco.
