Jerry E. Washington

(RAINBOW CITY) Jerry E. Washington, 74, of Rainbow City died Monday, April 11, 2011.

Visitation will be Wednesday at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, Gadsden, from 5-8 p.m.

The funeral service celebrating Jerry’s life will be Thursday, April 14, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Gadsden. The Rev. Larry Furhman, interim pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens.

Jerry was born Oct. 23, 1936, in Randolph County. Employed by Liberty National Life Insurance Company for 42 years, Jerry retired as manager of the Gadsden district office. He was loved by many Liberty National agents. Jerry loved golfing, fishing, spending time with his family at Lake Martin, and sharing fellowship with his church family. Jerry was a believer and would want his life to exemplify Christ.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Becky Washington; his daughter and son-in-law, Teri and Bill Nix; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Winnie Washington; and sister, Betty MacPherson.

Pallbearers will be Jerry’s nephews. All Liberty National agents will be honorary pallbearers, as well as his Sunday school class members.
