James Shaffer Wier

(ROANOKE) Funeral services for James Shaffer Wier, 92, of Roanoke will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2011, at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Burke and minister Denise McGill officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Springs Christian Church Cemetery.

Mr. Wier died Monday, March 21, at Wedowee Hospital.

Mr. Wier was born May 1, 1918, the son of Swance Scott and Ora Lee Entrekin Wier. He was a member of Green Chapel Methodist Church, Wedowee, and had been a heavy equipment operator.

Mr. Wier is survived by his wife, Voria Mozelle Wier of Roanoke; four nieces, Donna Baldwin, Jinnie Prater, Mary Neilson and Julie White; five nephews, Steve Wier, Bobby Wier, Al Gay, David Wier and Larry Wier. Mr. Wier was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Tom, Bill, Robert and Max Wier; and one sister, Virginia Gay.

Pallbearers will be Preston McGill, James McGill, Steve Wier, Brandon Wier, William Mintz and Michael Bates.
