George Frank Ware

(ROANOKE) George Frank “Green Hornet” Ware, 71, of Roanoke died Saturday, March 12, 2011.

Mr. Ware was born Feb. 15, 1940, to Zelma and Ethel Hayes Ware. At an early age, he joined Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, LaGrange, Ga. Mr. Ware worked as a brick mason for various contractors until his health prevented it.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Tressie Stitt Ware of Roanoke; four daughters,

Kim and husband Jeffery Owensby of LaGrange, Sandra Davis of Dallas, Texas, Vanessa Renee Stitt of Roanoke and Michelle Stitt of Huntsville; one son, Jerry Ware of LaGrange; a sister, Dorothy Ware of LaGrange; his mother-in-law, Mae-Tom Houston of Wedowee; nine grandchildren; sisters- and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews. Mr. Ware was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Thelma Hill; and brother, William Ware.

Services were Tuesday, March 15, at 1 p.m. at Zion Rest Baptist Church, Wedowee, with the Revs. William Phillips, Harvey Jones and Curtis Spidell officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
