Elvis H. Hester

(LaGRANGE, Ga.) Elvis H. Hester, 88, of LaGrange, Ga., died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Hospice LaGrange.

Mr. Hester was born Feb. 4, 1923, in Randolph County, Ala., son of the late Arvin and Pearl Shepherd Hester. An army veteran of World War II, he lived in Troup County, Ga., most of his life, was Pentecostal by faith, and was a retired self-employed mason.

Survivors include his wife, Nalta Grace Hester of LaGrange; sons, Rev. A. Wayne Hester and wife, Jane, of LaGrange, Dr. Elvis H. Hester Jr. and wife, Rita, of Stockbridge, Ga., and John M. Hester and wife, Phyllis, of Navarra Beach, Fla.; sisters, Joan Brazell of Franklin, Ga., and Glenda Faye Turner of Falkville; brother, Carles Hester of LaGrange; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 20, at Lighthouse Church of God in LaGrange. The Revs. Ronnie Fuller and Randall Frazier officiated, and entombment was in Shadowlawn Mausoleum.
