Willie Brown

(LaGRANGE, Ga.) Willie Brown, 90, of LaGrange, Ga., died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at Hospice LaGrange.

Mr. Brown was born March 3, 1920, in Wedowee, son of the late Robert Lee Brown and Annie Bolt Brown. He was a part of the greatest generation serving his country in the Pacific during World War II. He lived and farmed in Randolph County, Ala., until moving to LaGrange in 1950 and began work with Callaway Mills, Unity Plant, retiring from Milliken and Company after more than 36 years of service. He was a member of Baptist Tabernacle. He loved his Lord, family, country, flowers, gardening and football, especially Alabama football.

Survivors include his wife, Mozelle White Brown; daughters, Willa Dean and Tommy La Motte, and Quin Rainey; a grandson and his wife; three great-grandchildren; stepsons, Ricky and Donna White and Terry and Gail White; 12 step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mavis Calhoun, Vera Luker and Ann Wilson; brothers, Cecil Brown, Vernon Brown and Robert L. Brown Jr.; three sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eusella Stewart Brown; a son-in-law, Don Rainey; a sister, Lorene Brown Burk; and a brother, Lowell Brown

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. EST Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Baptist Tabernacle with the Revs. Jimmy McMillian and Frank Abrahamsen officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour. Flowers will be accepted or those desiring may contribute to Hospice LaGrange in memory of Mr. Brown.
