Robert Gerald Hill

(VALLEY) Robert Gerald Hill, 68, of Valley died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at Lanier Memorial Hospital, Valley.

Mr. Hill was born in Randolph County on May 18, 1942. He retired from West Point Stevens in 1991 after 29 years of service.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Cheryl and Terry Medlin of Taccoa, Ga., Mike Hill of Freeport, Fla., Robert and Joyce Hill Jr. of Roanoke, and Jennifer Enos, Susanne Ray and Jaylen Hill of Valley; his ex-wife, Bettie Lollar of Valley; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Satterwhite of LaGrange, Ga., and Harold Satterwhite of Wedowee; and a sister, Shirley Satterwhite of Roanoke. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jerry Hill, and a brother Bradford Satterwhite; two grandchildren; and his mother, Ina Bell Satterwhite.

Services will be at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley at 11 a.m. EST on Wednesday, Feb. 2, with burial in Fairfax Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to Alzheimer’s Resource Foundation.
