Update: Suspect charged with murder; suspected accomplice sought
An Omaha man was arrested on Wednesday, charged with the murder of another Omaha man.
According to Randolph County Sheriff’s Office investigator Gregg Dendinger, Alan Truman Higgins, 49, of 419 County Rd. 52, Woodland, is charged with capital murder. He is being held in Randolph County Jail without bond.
On Monday afternoon at approximately 3:47, RCSO received a 911 call about a person parked on County Road 645 near the High Shoals community, who appeared to be shot in the back.
Deputies responded and verified the person in the white Dodge truck had been shot and was deceased. The Department of Forensics was notified and the scene processed. The victim was identified as 57-year-old Roger Bailey.
Dendinger said on Tuesday afternoon, law enforcement officers were seeking two white males in connection with this shooting, Higgins and Herman Roosevelt Green Jr., 38, of Woodland.
Later Tuesday evening, Higgins was brought to Roanoke Municipal Court by his son, according to Roanoke investigator James Bailey.
Roanoke police booked him initially on outstanding charges for failure to appear for having no proof of insurance, violation of the prohibition law and DUI.
Green, who is still being sought, is 5-foot-11, 155 pounds, with red hair and brown eyes.
