Sammy Miller

(OXFORD) The funeral for Sammy Miller, 65, of Oxford will be Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home & Crematory with Jim Harrington officiating. Burial will be at Oxford Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 11, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Miller died Friday, Jan. 8, at Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Suzan Miller; daughter, Kanani Miller; sister, Jeanette “Jan” Monski of Gadsden; a brother, Larry Miller; and other relatives.

Mr. Miller was born in Gadsden on Dec. 2, 1944. He graduated from Gaston High School in Gadsden. He was married to Suzan Harp Miller of Gadsden for 31 years. He was the assistant fire chief in Gadsden for 24 years and retired in 1990. Sam was an auctioneer and owner of Now and Then Emporium in Roanoke. He was also a member of Greenbrier Church of Christ. Sammy was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Leona Miller, and father, Hiram Solomon Miller.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Borden, Charles Borden, Cristobal Echeverria, Sam Haynes, Gene Hill, David Lewis, Andy Newsome, T. Eugene Moss, Steve Ockay and Bobby Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Gadsden Fire Department.
