Two fires last week

A fire around noon on Wednesday of last week destroyed the home of Kaye Kenney at 1043 County Rd. 44 in the Midway community south of Wedowee. Roanoke VFD battled a fire at an older home at 104 Lebanon St. on Friday morning of last week. The fire started with a wall outlet in a back bedroom, which was heavily damaged. The resident, James Langford, said a cell phone charger had been plugged up there. Fire chief Bill Ford said the fire was confined to three rooms. Three trucks responded.
