ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Sealed proposals will be received by the City of Roanoke, Alabama at the City Hall; 809 Main Street; Roanoke, Alabama; on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2009, UNTIL 2:00 P.M. LOCAL TIME, for:
ADDITION AND RENOVATION TO ROANOKE SENIOR CENTER
ROANOKE, ALABAMA
at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read.
Work includes, but is not limited to, sitework, selective demolition, renovation of, and additions to the existing building, coordination of the entire project, and all related work required to complete the new facilities, as indicated on the Bid and Contract Documents.
Plans and specifications will be open for inspection at the offices of the Architect and plan rooms of F.W. Dodge in Montgomery and Birmingham, Alabama, and Columbus, Georgia; through Dodge/Scan; Construction Market Data, and AGC Internet Plan Room in Birmingham, Alabama.
General Contractors may procure two (2) sets of plans and specifications from the Architect upon deposit of one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125.00) per set, which will be refunded in full to each general contract bidder submitting a bonafide bid, upon return of plans and specifications, complete and in good and reusable condition, within ten (10) days after bids are opened.
Additional sets for General Contractors, and sets for subcontractors and materials dealers may be obtained by paying the same one hundred twenty-five dollars ($125.00) deposit, plus any special shipping and handling costs per complete set of plans and specifications; This is the anticipated cost of printing, regular shipping, and handling, and these costs are therefore non-refundable. Partial sets of plans and specifications will not be available.
Certified check or bid bond payable to the Owner, for not less than five percent (5%) of amount of bid, but in no event more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000), must accompany each proposal.
Workmen’s Compensation, extended fire and tornado insurance, public liability and property damage insurance, performance and payment bond, and Builders Risk insurance will be required. Insurance in compliance with requirements, will be required at the signing of the Contract.
AIA General Conditions, AIA Document A-201 “General Conditions of Contract for Construction”, 1997 Edition, issued by the American Institute of Architects is part of the specifications for this project, except as modified by the Project Manual.
Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by the Architect or copies thereof. All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors must be licensed under the Provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, and must show such evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by Architect or Owner; The bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying their current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the proposal is delivered; Bidder must also include their current license number on the Proposal Form. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for receipt of bids for a period of SIXTY (60) days.
Additional qualifications and requirements for General Contractor Bidders and separate Subcontractors and Manufacturers are indicated in the Bid and Contract Documents.
The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in their judgment, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted.
